YOUR PROFESSIONAL DOG TRAINER IN FULHAM SW6

My name is Fran Franklyn. I was born in London and dogs have always been an important part of my life

My experience with dogs eventually led me to study canine behaviour at the Natural Animal Centre in Wales and, back in London, to establish walking, boarding and daycare services from my own home

Living and working with dogs every day taught me something fundamental: before we can expect dogs to follow our rules, we first have to teach them what those rules are

Today, as a professional dog trainer with Training Dog®, I help owners across Fulham SW6, West Chelsea SW10 and Putney SW15, with a particular specialisation in Residential Dog Training

DOG TRAINING IN FULHAM

Dogs aren’t born knowing how we expect them to behave in our homes or in the world around us

They don’t automatically know that we want them to settle calmly, sleep in their own space, walk without pulling, come back when called or remain relaxed around other dogs. These are behaviours that need to be taught clearly and consistently

My approach is based on giving dogs that clarity: establishing routines, teaching boundaries and reinforcing calm, appropriate behaviour so that the dog understands what is expected of them

I work with puppies, adolescent and adult dogs on areas including house training, crate training, recall, lead walking, overexcitement, socialisation and everyday behaviour at home

Every dog is an individual, before a breed or a canine. Every dog is different with its unique personality and character.

Positive reinforcement makes your dog balanced, happy to learn and to please you, as you want loyalty and not fear.

RESIDENTIAL DOG TRAINING

I specialise in Residential Dog Training, where your dog comes to live and train with me in a real home environment rather than a kennel

Residential training allows us to work consistently throughout everyday life. Training doesn’t happen only during a scheduled hour: good habits can be reinforced from morning to evening, during walks, around the home, at mealtimes, when resting and when interacting with other dogs

Depending on the individual dog and the goals agreed with the owner, residential training can include:

  • crate training and settling calmly
  • house training
  • lead walking
  • recall and off-lead reliability
  • calm behaviour around other dogs
  • socialisation
  • reducing overexcitement
  • boundaries and behaviour within the home
  • establishing clear routines and good everyday habits

Every residential programme is different because every dog arrives with different needs

CLEAR RULES CREATE BETTER HABITS

We can’t expect a dog to respect rules they have never been taught

That’s why I focus first on making expectations clear and consistent. The dog learns what they can do, what they shouldn’t do and, most importantly, what we would like them to do instead

Rather than simply stopping unwanted behaviour, we work on creating and reinforcing the behaviour we want

Through repetition, consistency, positive reinforcement and clear boundaries, those behaviours can gradually become habits

The objective is a dog who understands how to live calmly and comfortably as part of the family

LEARNING TO LIVE WITH OTHER DOGS

One of the advantages of residential training is the opportunity for appropriate social experiences in everyday life

Where suitable for the individual dog, they can learn to walk, relax and spend time around other dogs without every encounter becoming a source of excessive excitement or stress

Being comfortable around other dogs doesn’t mean that a dog needs to interact with every dog they meet. Often, one of the most useful things they can learn is simply how to be around other dogs while remaining calm and getting on with their own life

FROM RESIDENTIAL TRAINING BACK TO HOME

Residential training creates the foundations, but what happens when your dog comes home is equally important

Before your dog returns, we discuss what they have learned and how you can continue the same routines, boundaries and behaviours at home

The aim isn’t for your dog to behave well only while they are with me. It’s to give them new habits that you can continue reinforcing as part of everyday family life

ONE-TO-ONE DOG TRAINING

Residential training isn’t the only way I work

I also provide one-to-one training for puppies and adult dogs, allowing us to address specific behaviours at home or outdoors and work directly with you and your dog

My main areas are Fulham SW6, West Chelsea SW10 and Putney SW15

YOUR FIRST CONSULTATION

Every new client begins with a consultation

We will discuss your dog’s history, routine, environment, behaviour and the areas you would like to improve. This allows me to understand your dog and establish the most appropriate training plan

If you’re considering residential training, the consultation also allows us to determine whether it is the right option for your dog and agree on the behaviours and goals we will work towards during their stay

Our dog loves going for daily walks with Fran who has been great with her and offers a very convenient service. The walks and socialising has also meant she is much calmer with other dogs and has really improved her recall. Fran has also given us lots of training tips to help walking on the lead and I would highly recommend her.

We couldn’t be happier with the progress our two beagles have made after working with Fran. They’re so much more relaxed and well behaved at home, especially around food and when people come into the house.

The advice she gave us on training leads and how to have better control on walks has been a complete game changer. It honestly feels like we have two completely different dogs after just one session. We can’t recommend Fran highly enough!

When Elvis was a puppy he went to Fran to do residential training as circumstances meant we were unable to have him at home to train him in our flat.
Elvis loved his time with Fran and settled in immediately and was so happy throughout. He came back to us a couple of weeks later having been trained by Fran to enjoy sleeping overnight in his crate, obedient in the park when walking with her off the lead, loving the company of other dogs and people and well on the way to being house trained in our flat. All pretty impressive for a 14 week old puppy.
Fran is passionate about dogs and provides a loving and stimulating environment for them, be it for training, walks, daycare or boarding. I would have no hesitation in recommending Fran, who has a wonderful and very special way with dogs.

Fran is an excellent trainer and lovely person. My toy poodle puppy completed the 3 week residential training course and arrived back fully housetrained with a strong recall and was able to perform all the training commands we decided in the training plan. I am now able to let her off the lead with total confidence that she will come back when needed. During her stay, I got regular video updates of my pup and discussion about her progress. I was able to reach out at any time by text or call and she was quick to respond. It is also very convenient that she handles pickup and drop off. Highly recommend!

Our dog billie completely loves Fran, she is so excited for her walks every week and we’ve seen a drastic improvement in my dogs recall and behaviour at home. We are very protective as it’s our first dog and we completely trust Fran to look after her!!

My puppy was excessively barking & howling, from 6.30 in the morning onwards.
In our first session at home, Fran gave so much advice - this has worked wonders.
Our second session we worked outside on recall which has been hugely helpful - puppy and owner both far calmer now!!
Massively recommended.
Apollo has been with Fran for a few months working on separation anxiety, recall and barking at the doorbell. He has done improvements in some areas but still working on separation anxiety. But definitely Fran is great with dogs, reliable, Apollo loves her. I highly recommended her for any dog issues you might have!
Fran is absolutely great and our puppy Norman loves her. She is helping us training him and in every training session Norman looks engaged, interested and happy! Fran is so useful with tips and advices for any question/doubt that we have and I cannot recommend her highly enough!
