For the purposes of the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018, Lorenzo Barichella is the data controller for personal information processed in connection with the Training Dog® website and the services he provides directly.

Independent dog trainers operating under or in association with the Training Dog® brand may act as separate data controllers for the services they provide independently.

2. Personal Information We Collect

Depending on how you interact with us, we may collect:

  • Contact information: your name, email address, telephone number and postal address.

  • Enquiry information: details you provide when contacting us about dog training, behavioural consultations or other services.

  • Dog-related information: your dog’s name, age, breed, behaviour, training history and other details relevant to the service requested.

  • Booking information: appointment dates, locations, correspondence and details relating to consultations or training sessions.

  • Purchase information: products or courses purchased, transaction references, order history and information required to provide access to digital content.

  • Communications: emails, messages and other correspondence you send to us.

  • Technical information: IP address, browser type, device information, website interactions and cookie preferences, where collected by the technologies used on our website.

  • Marketing preferences: your choices regarding newsletters, promotional communications and optional tracking technologies.

We do not intentionally collect sensitive personal information unless it is necessary for a specific purpose and there is an appropriate lawful basis for doing so.

Please avoid sending unnecessary medical or other sensitive personal information through general enquiry forms.

3. How We Use Your Information

We process personal information to:

  • Respond to enquiries and provide information about our services.

  • Arrange and deliver dog training and behavioural consultations.

  • Refer enquiries to an appropriate independent trainer where relevant.

  • Process purchases and provide access to digital products, books, courses and educational resources.

  • Manage customer relationships, bookings, payments and administrative records.

  • Provide customer support and respond to complaints.

  • Send service-related communications.

  • Send marketing communications where permitted by law.

  • Understand how visitors use our website and improve its performance.

  • Protect our website against spam, fraud and misuse.

  • Comply with legal, accounting and tax obligations.

We do not sell your personal information to third-party data brokers.

4. Our Lawful Bases for Processing

Under UK GDPR, we rely on one or more of the following lawful bases:

Contract: where processing is necessary to provide a service or digital product you have requested, or to take steps at your request before entering into a contract.

Legitimate interests: where necessary to respond to business enquiries, manage our operations, improve our services, maintain website security or communicate with existing customers, provided those interests are not overridden by your rights and freedoms.

Legal obligation: where we must retain or disclose information to comply with applicable law, including tax and accounting requirements.

Consent: where required for optional cookies, certain marketing communications or other processing activities that depend on your permission.

Where we rely on consent, you may withdraw it at any time. Withdrawal does not affect processing that was lawful before consent was withdrawn.

5. Independent Dog Trainers

Training Dog® works with independent dog trainers who may provide services in different areas of London.

Where you submit an enquiry through Training Dog®, we may share relevant contact details and information about your dog with an appropriate trainer to help respond to your request or arrange services.

We share only information reasonably necessary for that purpose.

Where an independent trainer provides services directly, manages bookings, issues invoices or maintains their own client records, that trainer may act as an independent data controller and be responsible for their own data protection obligations.

Training Dog® is not automatically the controller of every record independently maintained by an affiliated trainer.

If you wish to exercise your data protection rights in relation to information held directly by an independent trainer, you may need to contact that trainer.

6. Purchases, Payments and Digital Products

We may offer digital courses, educational resources, books and other products through our website or third-party platforms.

Online purchases and access to digital content may involve providers such as ThriveCart and its associated course delivery services.

Payment details are generally processed by the relevant payment service provider. We do not need to receive or store your complete payment card details to fulfil your order.

We may receive transaction details, including your name, email address, products purchased, payment status and order reference, to administer purchases, provide access to content and handle customer support.

Third-party providers process information in accordance with their own applicable privacy notices and contractual obligations.

Where books or other products are purchased through external retailers, including Amazon, the retailer’s own privacy practices also apply.

7. Website Hosting, Video Content and Third-Party Services

Our website is built using WordPress and may use third-party services to support its operation.

These may include:

  • Elementor, for website design and content presentation.

  • CookieYes, for cookie consent management.

  • YouTube, for embedded educational and promotional videos.

  • Google services, which may include analytics, advertising and website security technologies.

  • Meta services, which may include advertising measurement and marketing technologies.

  • Cloudflare Turnstile, for protection against automated spam and abuse.

Depending on the service and its configuration, these providers may process technical information, such as IP addresses, device information and website interaction data.

Some services may act as processors on our behalf, while others may act as independent controllers for certain activities.

The use of cookies and similar technologies is explained separately in our Cookie Policy.

8. Cookies and Similar Technologies

Our website uses cookies and similar technologies for functions such as website operation, security, remembering cookie preferences, analytics and advertising.

Where required by UK law, we seek your consent before using non-essential cookies or similar technologies.

You can manage your preferences through the cookie consent controls available on our website.

Where consent is required, we will request it before sending marketing communications.

You can opt out of marketing emails at any time by using the unsubscribe link, where provided, or by contacting [email protected].

We will not treat your consent to receive marketing emails as automatic consent to advertising cookies or other unrelated processing activities.

  • Website hosting and technical support providers.

  • Payment processors and ecommerce platforms.

Where personal data is transferred internationally, we take reasonable steps to ensure that appropriate safeguards apply, as required by UK data protection law.

Depending on the circumstances, these safeguards may include UK adequacy regulations, contractual protections or other legally recognised transfer mechanisms.

12. How Long We Keep Your Information

We retain personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes for which it was collected, including applicable legal, accounting and tax requirements.

Retention periods depend on the type of information and the reason for processing.

We periodically review information and delete or anonymise it when it is no longer required.

13. How We Protect Your Information

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures designed to protect personal information against unauthorised access, alteration, loss or disclosure.

These may include access controls, secure connections, software maintenance and appropriate use of trusted service providers.

However, no method of transmitting or storing information online can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

We may need to verify your identity before responding to a request.

We normally respond to valid data protection requests within one month, subject to any extension permitted by law.

15. Complaints

If you have concerns about how we handle your personal information, please contact us first at:

[email protected]

You also have the right to complain to the UK supervisory authority:

Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO)
Website: https://ico.org.uk
Telephone: 0303 123 1113

We would welcome the opportunity to address your concerns directly, but you are not required to contact us before raising a complaint with the ICO.

16. Children’s Privacy

Our website and commercial services are primarily intended for adults.

We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children for marketing purposes.

Where information about a child is relevant to a dog training enquiry or service, it should normally be provided by a parent or guardian and limited to what is necessary.

17. External Websites

Our website may contain links to third-party websites, including video platforms, online retailers and social media services.

We are not responsible for the privacy practices of websites operated independently by third parties.

We recommend reviewing their privacy notices before providing personal information.
