- TRAINING DOGĀ®
OUR METHOD
A different way of understanding dogs
Dog training is often associated with teaching commands
Sit! Stay! Down!
While these skills certainly have their place, we believe lasting behavioural change comes from something much deeper
At Training DogĀ®, we don’t simply teach dogs what to do
We help dogs learn how to live calmly and confidently alongside people
Our approach is based on communication, trust, consistency, positive reinforcement and clear guidance rather than endless repetition or relying on commands alone
The aim is to help dogs develop better responses and make better choices because they understand what is expected of them, not simply because they’re following instructions
WHY OUR METHOD IS DIFFERENT
The Training DogĀ® Method wasn’t created in a classroom
It has been developed through years of practical work with dogs living in one of the busiest cities in the world
Our trainers work daily with dogs surrounded by traffic, parks, cafƩs, children, cyclists, wildlife and countless distractions
This real-world experience has shaped a method that is practical, realistic and designed for everyday life rather than controlled training environments
BUILT ON REAL-WORLD EXPERIENCE
Ā
The Training DogĀ® Method wasn’t created in a classroom
It has been developed through years of practical work with thousands of dogs living in one of the busiest cities in the world
Our trainers work daily with dogs surrounded by traffic, parks, cafƩs, children, cyclists, wildlife and countless distractions
If a dog can remain calm and responsive in London, they can usually succeed almost anywhere
This real-world experience has shaped a method that is practical, realistic and designed for everyday life rather than controlled training environments
THE TRAINING DOG PILLAR
A Clear System, Real Results, Lifelong Bond
At the heart of our work is the Training DogĀ® Pillar, a structured framework developed through years of practical experience with dogs of different ages, breeds, personalities and backgrounds
The Pillar represents seven foundations that build progressively upon one another, from understanding the dog and creating a strong bond through to communication, relationship and ultimately successful everyday life together
Mindset ā The foundation of the Pillar. Learning to see situations from your dog’s perspective, understanding their needs and behaviour, and approaching training with acceptance, patience and a sense of responsibility for their wellbeing and protection
Bond ā Building engagement, trust and mutual understanding, creating the emotional foundation from which learning and cooperation can develop
Pack Mindset ā Helping your dog develop a natural sense of belonging and awareness of where you are and where you are going. Pack Mindset is about connection, guidance and staying together, not dominance or establishing a hierarchy over your dog
Leadership ā Providing structure, clear rules and consistent boundaries. Leadership means calmly taking responsibility for decisions and giving your dog clarity and predictability; it is not about intimidation or physical dominance
Connection ā Developing empathy, tolerance and consideration while learning to recognise the individual dog’s needs, emotions and responses
Communication ā Learning to understand your dog’s visual and behavioural signals while communicating clearly through your own body language, verbal cues and the lead when appropriate
Relationship ā Bringing the previous foundations together to create clarity, trust and harmony between dog and owner, allowing both to navigate everyday life with greater confidence and understanding
Success ā The result is not simply a dog that follows commands, but a dog and owner who can live, communicate and enjoy greater freedom together
Together, these foundations create a practical framework that can be adapted to the individual dog rather than forcing every dog through the same training formula
- Individual approach
Every dog is an individual, with their own personality, needs, experiences and temperament
- Positive method
Positive reinforcement helps dogs learn with confidence and encourages engagement, trust and cooperation
MORE THAN OBEDIENCE
We don’t aim to create dogs that simply obey commands like robots
We aim to help dogs become confident, socially capable and able to make appropriate choices in everyday situations
Our training focuses on understanding behaviour rather than simply controlling it
Because when owners understand why a behaviour happens, changing it becomes far easier and much more rewarding
MEET THE FOUNDER
My name is Lorenzo Barichella, founder of Training DogĀ®
Originally from Milan, Italy, I’ve been living and working in West London for over a decade
Throughout my career, I’ve dedicated my work to understanding how dogs communicate and learn, and how owners can build stronger relationships through clarity, consistency and trust
Together with a trusted team of experienced trainers and behaviour specialists, we’ve helped dogs and their owners with a wide range of training and behavioural challenges using the Training DogĀ® Method
Our clients include families, first-time dog owners, rescue dog owners and people from many different backgrounds
Regardless of who you are, our mission has always remained the same:
To make professional dog training practical, understandable and accessible

Since then, weāve worked with him on two more occasions: once during the socialisation period and again to address a resource guarding issue with food. Each time, weāve come away feeling confident and reassured. Lorenzo takes the time to thoroughly assess each situation, offers hands-on guidance during the session, and always follows up with a detailed email outlining the next steps and a summary of everything discussed.
Itās clear that he has a wealth of experience working with all kinds of dogs and behavioural challenges. He has a calm, kind, and gentle approachāyet knows exactly when to be firm. We highly recommend Lorenzo as a dog trainer and behaviourist.

I have a maltese (called Coco) who would always pull when walking on a lead. She would also bark whenever she sees another dog or when she sees people passing by the window. I tried so many things but nothing worked. After just 5 minutes with Lorenzo walking Coco, she's a changed dog! I couldn't believe it.... She was walking nicely with a loose lead and wasn't pulling forward when I was ahead of her or when she saw another dog in front of her.
Lorenzo truly loves dogs and more importantly he understands them. He is able to explain to me why Coco behaves the way she does and what I should be doing instead to change her behaviour. He has truly educated my husband and I on the foundations of being a leader to Coco and creating a successful relationship between Coco and us. He has also provided us with written advice on what we can do when we encounter certain scenarios e.g. excessive barking etc.
I left it a week before leaving my review as I wanted to see how Coco was after one consultation with Lorenzo - she has been walking well on a lead and she is overall much calmer and well behaved.
If you are struggling with any unwanted behaviours (no matter small or big) in your dog, I highly recommend booking a session with Lorenzo - you won't regret it!! I wish I booked one with Lorenzo sooner, I really can't recommend him enough - thank you so much Lorenzo!
He is kind, calm but firm & uses positive reinforcement which obviously works. Heās clearly loved by so many dogs in the park who run up to him to say hello and my dog respected him immediately.
Lorenzo has provided lots of other tips and techniques that make for a very happy dog and has been supportive in helping us implement them. I have nothing but great things to say!

I would definitely recommend him if you are getting a puppy because he can start training on day one so that as the dog gets older there are no behaviour issues. Or if you have an older dog that needs correction Iām sure he is great with that too.
We cannot recommend Lorenzo more, he is excellent! After three weeks our puppy is already better trained than any of our past dogs ever were.
