PROFESSIONAL DOG TRAINING IN LONDON

My name is James Impey. I currently reside in London where I was born and raised.

My entire life has been focused around dogs from an early age, my grandfather had a wonderful Husky German Shepherd cross, which cemented my love for dogs at a young age.

Twenty plus years later, I am now working with many different Dogs; owning, breeding, and sadly saying goodbye, to my own best friend, ‘Fred’ the terrier.

I have now fulfilled my ambition of becoming a dog trainer, helping others to bond with their dogs, and enjoy their relationship to the fullest.

I have considerable experience; both looking after and working with dogs and have a strong professional background as a Canine Behaviourist & Training Advisor. I have developed experience and insight, into behaviour, sociality and pack hierarchy. I also deal with aggressive and dangerous dogs, for which I deploy a variety of tactics – as every dog, and every situation is different.

As someone who has always played a lot of sport – being out with the dogs is an extra bonus for me. Maintaining a good physical condition is very important – as I specialise in working with larger, stronger breeds. I find the job invariably requires one to be patient and calm. A dog’s trust and love can be quicker with some, than others. But I consider no Chihuahua too small and no Dane too big a task.

I make a conscientious effort to keep up with information regarding the canine community; and in that way, stay up to date with canine welfare standards, policies and procedures.

My strengths are my adaptability and versatility. I’m a problem solver, and someone that can think on their feet – and can adapt quickly to the needs of the situation at hand. Each dog requires different tactics and a different approach. Being able to identify their traits early on, and find the appropriate solution, is what I believe separates me from other trainers.

I have experience in handling the most difficult decisions – and understand the importance of a neutral, helpful, and objective viewpoint, in emotionally stressful situations.

As an owner of a rescue dog, that ironically saved my life – after the death of my father, (at 14 years old) I firmly believe in the value and importance of a dog as a family member. Dogs are not just pets, they are active members of the family; that deserve the respect, love and care of their pack (family) members.

My ultimate reward, is seeing a dog change for the better. Strengthening their bond with their owner/s. And fully integrated into a happy home.

Every dog is an individual, before a breed or a canine. Every dog is different with its unique personality and character.

Positive reinforcement makes your dog balanced, happy to learn and to please you, as you want loyalty and not fear.

BOOK YOUR DOG TRAINER

Consultations can be booked contacting us through the form below. At the first appointment our trainer will mainly speak with you, totally ignoring your dog (for a while). Before you get annoyed with this, it is important to explain that this is necessary for two important reasons:

To observe the environment where the dog lives and to put the base of a strong leadership, in fact giving too much attention at first sight, would make it difficult for the trainer to be recognized as a leader by your dog. At the first appointment you will be asked to answer honestly a set of questions in order to identify the behaviour to correct or create, the nature of unwanted behaviour and the method to choose to achieve quicker results.

Messages (Email, SMS, and WhatsApp) are preferred rather than calls, since trainers won’t pick-up phone calls whilst on a session.
