- POST-HANDOVER SUPPORT
A GREAT BREEDER DOES NOT SIMPLY BREED GREAT DOGS, BUT ENSURES THEY GO ON TO LIVE THE LIFE THEY DESERVE
Carefully selected bloodlines are essential; there’s no question about that, but a dog’s behaviour and overall wellbeing are not shaped by genetics alone. They are also shaped by what happens in the first few months after the puppy goes to their new home, and it is during this phase that a breeder’s work is often put to the test
- Negative reviews
- Frustrated owners
- Distorted word of mouth
- Complaints and unrealistic expectations
Not because the puppy was bred poorly, but because the owner did not have the right knowledge or guidance to raise that puppy properly
THE HIDDEN PHASE AFTER THE PUPPY GOES HOME
The first 90 days in a new home are a critical stage in a puppy’s development
During this time, the foundations are built for:
behavioural patterns
emotional confidence or insecurity
respect for household boundaries
the quality of the relationship with the owner and other animals
If this phase is handled poorly, issues can develop that may stay with the dog for years, often for life
When something goes wrong, the difference between:
genetics
training and guidance
day-to-day management
is rarely clear, and the breeder is often the one people turn back to and question, even when genetics are not the issue
THE BREEDER'S REALITY
WHEN OWNERS ARE LEFT WITHOUT GUIDANCE
Most dog owners genuinely care about their dog, but very often, they simply do not have the experience needed to raise a puppy correctly
This can lead to unintentional mistakes, which may result in:
- separation-related distress
- destructive behaviour in the home
- fear-based or aggressive behaviour
- lack of structure in daily life
- difficult walks and an unbalanced relationship
When this happens, owners look for answers, and naturally, they turn back to the breeder. Even when the issue has nothing to do with how the puppy was bred
WHAT EVERY BREEDER WANTS
Anyone who breeds with care and intention does not simply want to send a puppy to a new home; they want to know that the dogs they have bred will have:
a prepared and aware owner
a balanced relationship
a stable, fulfilling life
A dog that is guided properly:
lives more calmly
is more balanced
builds a healthier relationship with their owner
In simple terms: when the owner is prepared, the dog thrives

A STRUCTURED LEARNING PROGRAMME FOR DOG OWNERS
The support programme is built around DOG LICENCE™, a structured online learning experience designed to guide dog owners in raising and managing their dog properly
The course lasts approximately three and a half hours and is organised into short, practical modules
Owners will learn:
how to manage a puppy correctly from the start
how to prevent and resolve behavioural issues
how to train with clarity and consistency
how to build a balanced relationship
how to manage the dog through different stages of life
The method is based on behavioural principles, practical techniques, and over ten years of hands-on professional experience
ABOUT THE METHOD
DOG LICENCE™ was developed by Lorenzo Barichella, a certified dog trainer and behaviour specialist. Since 2015, through his work in Central London, Lorenzo has helped many owners resolve behavioural issues, including complex cases often considered too difficult to manage. He is particularly specialised in raising puppies in a way that prevents future behavioural issues
His approach is gentle and based on a clear principle: when communication is clear and guidance is consistent, dogs become calmer and more receptive to their owner’s guidance. When owners have the right tools, dogs become more balanced and relationships become more stable

WHAT DOG OWNERS SAY ABOUT MY WORK

These reviews reflect my professional training — the same expertise behind DOG LICENCE™

Since then, we’ve worked with him on two more occasions: once during the socialisation period and again to address a resource guarding issue with food. Each time, we’ve come away feeling confident and reassured. Lorenzo takes the time to thoroughly assess each situation, offers hands-on guidance during the session, and always follows up with a detailed email outlining the next steps and a summary of everything discussed.
It’s clear that he has a wealth of experience working with all kinds of dogs and behavioural challenges. He has a calm, kind, and gentle approach—yet knows exactly when to be firm. We highly recommend Lorenzo as a dog trainer and behaviourist.

I have a maltese (called Coco) who would always pull when walking on a lead. She would also bark whenever she sees another dog or when she sees people passing by the window. I tried so many things but nothing worked. After just 5 minutes with Lorenzo walking Coco, she's a changed dog! I couldn't believe it.... She was walking nicely with a loose lead and wasn't pulling forward when I was ahead of her or when she saw another dog in front of her.
Lorenzo truly loves dogs and more importantly he understands them. He is able to explain to me why Coco behaves the way she does and what I should be doing instead to change her behaviour. He has truly educated my husband and I on the foundations of being a leader to Coco and creating a successful relationship between Coco and us. He has also provided us with written advice on what we can do when we encounter certain scenarios e.g. excessive barking etc.
I left it a week before leaving my review as I wanted to see how Coco was after one consultation with Lorenzo - she has been walking well on a lead and she is overall much calmer and well behaved.
If you are struggling with any unwanted behaviours (no matter small or big) in your dog, I highly recommend booking a session with Lorenzo - you won't regret it!! I wish I booked one with Lorenzo sooner, I really can't recommend him enough - thank you so much Lorenzo!
He is kind, calm but firm & uses positive reinforcement which obviously works. He’s clearly loved by so many dogs in the park who run up to him to say hello and my dog respected him immediately.
Lorenzo has provided lots of other tips and techniques that make for a very happy dog and has been supportive in helping us implement them. I have nothing but great things to say!

I would definitely recommend him if you are getting a puppy because he can start training on day one so that as the dog gets older there are no behaviour issues. Or if you have an older dog that needs correction I’m sure he is great with that too.
We cannot recommend Lorenzo more, he is excellent! After three weeks our puppy is already better trained than any of our past dogs ever were.
